Account Executive (AE) and Jr. Account Executive (Jr. AE)

The Focus Group is now taking applications for both an Account Executive (AE) and a Junior Account Executive (Jr. AE). The job description below applies to both positions in that the Jr. Account Executive works under an AE assisting on all of the work described, but in a junior (learning and assistance) capacity. The ideal Jr. Account Executive is an individual who aspires to become a full Account Executive after working as an understudy to an AE and assisting on several accounts.

An ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE is responsible for daily contact between the agency and one or more client accounts.  The account executive interfaces with various agency departments to move projects through, on strategy, on time and on budget on behalf of clients. This includes meeting with members of the creative, web, digital, social media, PR teams responsible for executing the client’s projects. The AE also works with the traffic/production manager concerning scheduling and timing.

The account executive has major input in developing strategic marketing plans for his/her clients. After plans are developed and presented to clients, the account executive is responsible for carrying out the plan on a daily basis.

The account executive is also responsible for gaining new business from existing clients.  S/he is not a salesperson; s/he is a service person and as such is not responsible for finding new clients.

Reports to the Director of Account Service


  • Writes creative and strategy briefs.
  • Enters projects, tasks, budgets into project management system.
  • Handles day-to-day activities for assigned clients.
  • Keeps apprised of progress of clients’ projects through production and traffic managers and the project management system.
  • Receives client briefings.Fills out Client Contact Reports for all client meetings and distributes to appropriate agency personnel.  Quickly and accurately relays Client Change Orders to all appropriate agency personnel.
  • Effectively presents, sells and defends all agency work/proposals to clients; supports other client service team members in these functions.
  • Keeps apprised of clients’ brands/products/services/marketing developments.
  • Assists in preparing client invoices, proposals, marketing communications and strategic marketing plans, media and public relations plans.
  • Regularly checks for and responds promptly to all client communications.
  • Coordinates with digital department to ensure traditional/digital synthesis of marketing efforts.
  • Checks gains approval for creative/production materials, copy, layouts, and production art, and coordinates client approval of same.
  • Reviews billing prior to release to clients; ensures prompt collection of accounts receivable.
  • Informs account supervisor regularly of account progress for all assigned clients; involves account supervisor immediately in event of potential problems, i.e., client/agency relations, budget overruns, etc.
  • Coordinates project timing and budgets with all relevant agency personnel.
  • Actively seeks additional projects/new business from client contacts.
  • Represents agency at industry and community functions.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, Media preferred.
  • AE: at least 3 years experience in an agency preferred; Jr. AE can be a recent college graduate or with minimal agency experience.
  • Demonstrates aptitude to provide excellent client service at all times.
  • Possesses the intellectual curiosity observe, understand and ask questions that can lead to problem solving for clients.
  • Passionate about a career in our field. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (briefs, conference reports, marketing plans)
  • Organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Social Media Coordinator

About the position:

The Focus Group is an award winning, full-service advertising agency with local, national and international experience, based in Gulfport, MS. We are currently seeking an entry-level, full-time, and in-house Social Media Coordinator.


The Social Media Coordinator will support the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of social media campaigns for client accounts, as well as creating compelling and engaging copy for multiple social media platforms. A strong work ethic, communication and organizational skills are imperative to this role. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Assist with creation of social media content and content calendars
  • Post and schedule across various platforms
  • Monitor and respond to customer inquiries and comments across various platforms
  • Assist with measuring and reporting effectiveness of social media campaigns
  • Research, monitor and report current and emerging social media trends
  • Understand clients’ social media needs, goals and strategies
  • Provide support to team as needed with projects
  • Work with Social Media Manager for direction and success

Skills Desired/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Mass Communication, Social Media or related degree
  • 1-3 years of social media experience
  • Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and strategies

Full-Stack Website Developer

We have a growing web development department and are seeking an additional developer. Our ideal candidate is an advocate for great user experience, has strong collaborative skills, and is organized and methodical. Theideal candidate can demonstrate strong experience with web programming and WordPress and is able to troubleshoot issues and deliver solutions. Working within the creative department offers opportunities for this developer to assist designers and offer strategy.


  • Collaborate with the creative team from start to finish on web development projects
  • Code custom websites with the latest technology with UX, function, and security in mind
  • Maintain current, live websites safely and without supervision
  • Give input on architecture, user-experience, content strategy, and design
  • Capable of bringing a design to life with code
  • Work and manage DNS records for various websites
  • Communicate effectively to team and clients
  • Self-motivated to keep up with latest trends and best practices for web
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve


  • Experience coding websites from start to finish
  • WordPress

  • SVG animation is a plus
  • Application (mobile or web) programming is a plus
