Sarah is a journalist-turned-marketer with a passion for people and creating engaging content strategies centered around the work and inspiring stories of our clients. Over her decade-long career, Sarah gained valuable public relations experience as a Multimedia Journalist after graduating from the Missouri School of Journalism in 2013, working in both national news radio and local TV news. During this time, she made her way to the Gulf Coast to become one of the inaugural members of the WXXV News Team. In 2015 before leaving the industry, Sarah won Best Franchise Reporting by Mississippi Associated Press for her sweep series on the future of Biloxi’s casino market.
Prior to joining The Focus Group, Sarah spent seven years building Singing River Health System’s first in-house marketing and media relations team, navigating the communication efforts during its historic – financial and cultural turnaround. Sarah is most known for her strong work ethic, strategic communication skills, and creative problem-solving abilities, which led to her building great relationships with local and national news organizations.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the health system’s Media Relations Director, she led the charge for increased hospital transparency through social media. Most notably, producing Singing River’s daily Facebook Live segments to help inform and protect the community while combating the spread of misinformation. As well as shining a light on community-based healthcare providers and their experience nationally by orchestrating multiple stories featured in the New York Times, Fortune Magazine, and on CNN, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, and more.
Sarah is a graduate of Leadership Jackson County, and her goal in life is simple: empower the Missions of the organizations she works with and instill positive change to how things traditionally are done to move mountains and communities forward.
